The Omanhene of Sunyani, Ɔdɛɛfoɔ Ɔgyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, says he is committed to the total development of the Sunyani traditional area and is available for any engagement that will inure to the benefit of his people.

Addressing the media in Sunyani, the Omanhene said the Sunyani Traditional Council is always willing and ready to collaborate with any individual or organization that wishes to undertake any development activities in the area.

Ɔdɛɛfoɔ Ɔgyeamansan Boahen Korkor II called on anyone interested in securing land for development purposes to reach out to his secretariat “for proper assistance”, adding that: “Dealing with unauthorized individuals is at your own risk.”

Misrepresentation

“There are individuals, including Nananom and Queen mothers, misrepresenting themselves as members of the Sunyani Traditional Council, signing consent letters, and unlawfully collecting money. I will not permit anyone to exploit the Council for personal gain. I have referred this matter for investigation and expect a report within two weeks”, he also said.

The Omanhene expressed grave concern about alleged reports of maltreatments being meted out to some yam sellers at the Sunyani market and gave the assurance that the issue will be delt with in two weeks.

“I will not tolerate the maltreatment of our mothers who sell yams at the market. Reports have emerged of yam sellers being paraded at my Traditional Council, subjected to humiliation and insults. I assure our mothers that within two weeks, they will be able to sell their yams in the Sunyani markets without fear. Anyone who opposes this will face consequences.”

“I am not an autocratic leader, neither am I vindictive, but I am principled in my customary duties and my service to humanity. I strive to be fair, just, honest, and meticulous in all my dealings… I, Ɔdɛɛfoɔ Ɔgyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, will not sit idle while selfish individuals tarnish the reputation of my family and our traditions”, he also clarified.

Misinformation

The Omanhene advised the media to cross-check information related to his stool with his secretariat before publishing, saying: “I uphold freedom of speech and support the media. However, I will not tolerate misinformation about my land. Media personnel should approach me for accurate information.”

Courtesy Call

Meanwhile, the Bono Regional Police Commander, ACP Yaw Tetega, has paid a courtesy call on the Omanhene of Sunyani, Ɔdɛɛfoɔ Ɔgyeamansan Boahen Korkor II.

The Regional Commander was accompanied by ACP George Andrews Kumah, the Deputy Regional Commander; George Obeng Boadu, Staff Officer; ACP Delay Dzansi, Divisional Commander; Peter Okantey, Operations Officer and ASP Samuel Yerebo.

It was to formally introduce the new Regional Commander and his team to the Sunyani Traditional Council.

The meeting, among other things, discussed the current security situation in Sunyani and the need to strengthen collaboration between the traditional council and police.

Ɔdɛɛfoɔ Ɔgyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, for his part, expressed his unwavering support for the police and pledged assistance in the form of resources, including motorbikes, to enhance police operations and ensure a safer environment for the community.
