A consultative forum for adolescents in Sunyani has taken place under the Resilient City for Adolescent (RCA) project, implemented by the Global Media Foundation (GLOMEF).
The program afforded participants the opportunity to make inputs in the youth manifesto, which is being drafted for consideration by policy-makers.
The event took place on August 5, 2026 at the K. Nsiah Gyabaah auditoruim at the Sunyani Technical University (STU) and attended by Assembly members, the CEO of the Global Media Foundation, representative from Citizen Watch Ghana and several others.
Members of the Adolescent Parliament were also in attendance. They were drawn from all the 19 constituencies in Sunyani Municipal and Sunyani West Municipal areas. Some of the constituencies are Area 1, Area 2, Area 3, Area 4, Abesim, Old Abesim, Newtown, Nkwabeng, Odumasi, Fiapre, Yawhima and Kotokrom.
As part of the forum, the 19 constituencies were divided into four groups, with each group discussing issues affecting their constituency. They were also tasked to envision how they would want Sunyani and Ghana in general to be in the next ten year, especially in areas such as education and skills development, health, digital access, environment and sanitation, governance and inclusion, road and social protection, among others.
The program provided a platform for the adolescents to share their concerns on how issues bothering them should be addressed and how it would contribute to sustainable development.
The CEO of GLOMEF, Raphael Godlove Ahenu assured the participants that the Youth Manifesto will be discussed in the upcoming international conference in Accra for consideration.
He said this would ensure that the adolescents’ voices have been heard and factored in the formulation of policies about them.
