Ahantaman Girls secure qualification for NSMQ 2025 contest

Great news for the Ahantaman Girls’ community home and abroad as their alma matter, Ahantaman Girls Senior High School (AHGISS) today secured a ticket to participate in the prestigious National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) competition for the second time in eight years.

AHGISS will therefore be among senior high schools that will be representing the Western and the Western North Regions in this year’s contest, which promises to be full of fun and fireworks.

AHGISS’ NSMQ Team secured 43 points as against Amenfiman SHS’s 61 points while Fijai SHS ended up with 40 points in a fiercely contested Western/Western North Regional Qualifier on Monday, June 30,2025.

AHGISS qualified for the National Championships by virtue, scoring 40 points and above.

A message by the Parent-Teacher Association of AHGISS congratulated the team, which is under the able leadership of Mr. Gideon Antwi, for making them proud.

“We are fully convinced that a deliberate investment in NSMQ will create a unique opportunity to attract the needed national recognition for an incredible support to AHGISS forcing major stakeholders to gladly volunteer to assist AHGISS”, the message said.

The PTA Executives further thanked the Board under the distinguished leadership of Rev. Elizabeth Akuokor, Board Members, the Headmistress, Lady Ernestina Kankam, the Management Team, Staff, Students, NSMQ co-ordinators and Parents “for supporting us for such a historic achievement.”

“We will continue to work closely with Management to provide the necessary support for the National contest scheduled for October 2025. We remain committed and dedicated to creating a conducive learning environment for our highly valued children.

Meanwhile, the Sacred Heart Senior High School (SAHESS) at Nsoatre near Sunyani has also booked a place in this year’s National Science and Maths Quiz slated for October this year after walking over, the reigning Bono Regional Champions, Sunyani Senior High School (SUSEC).

The two schools have, however, qualified for the national contest since they each had more than 40 points at the end of their competition.
