Nkoranza North DCE touches base with physically challenged

The Nkoranza North District Chief Executive, Patrick Effah, has been engaging the physically challenged in his district to learn first-hand, their concerns and discuss with them the measures required to deal with them.

The engagement was a follow-up to an earlier meeting between the DCE and the physically challenged soon after Mr. Effah as the DCE for the area.

The DCE also used the opportunity to inform them about plans by the Assembly and government to improve the living standards of persons with disabilities.

He assured them of the Assembly’s unwavering commitment to working closely with them and rolling out various interventions specifically aimed at enhancing their socio-economic lives.

Mr. Effah appealed to them to help in clearing the land designated as an apprenticeship centre for persons with disabilities and encouraged them to be involved in the YEA apprenticeship program.

The DCE advised them not to be discouraged because disability is not an inability, they can have access to various opportunities for all other people and engage in life-changing economic activities.

The group applauded the DCE for the engagement and pledged to cooperate and support him to discharge his duties creditably.

They highlighted some of the key challenges facing them which includes clearing their land for their business center, delay in the PWDs common funds disbursement, inadequate spectacles and white canes for the visually impaired, crutches, and wheelchairs.
