Sunyanimanhene commends NHIA staff for dedication and service

The Bono Regional Directorate of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has paid a courtesy call on the Sunyanimanhene, Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, at his palace in Sunyani.

The delegation, led by the Bono Regional Manager of NHIA, Mr. Isaac Badu Amponsah, included district and municipal managers as well as senior staff of the Authority.

Addressing the chief, Mr. Amponsah expressed heartfelt condolences to the Sunyanimanhene following the passing of his mother. He also praised the chief for his dedication and outstanding contributions to the NHIA during his tenure as Management Information Systems (MIS) Manager with the Authority.

Mr. Amponsah highlighted the strong performance of the NHIA in the Bono Region and outlined key developments within the healthcare sector. He disclosed that two major health facilities in the region — Sunyani Teaching Hospital and Holy Family Hospital — have been selected under the Mahama Care Policy, a move expected to enhance healthcare delivery across the region.

The Regional Manager also raised concerns about alleged illegal charges being imposed by some healthcare facilities, describing the practice as detrimental to the operations and image of the NHIA. He assured the chief that the Authority was committed to addressing the issue.

He further appealed to the Sunyanimanhene to support the Authority’s efforts to secure a CPA Regional Office to improve productivity and service delivery in the Bono Region.

Dedication to work

In response, Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II welcomed the delegation and commended the management and staff of NHIA for their dedication and commitment to duty.

The Sunyanimanhene acknowledged the significant role the NHIA has played in his personal and professional development, noting that his experience with the Authority helped shape his leadership qualities.

He urged staff of the NHIA to carry out their responsibilities with integrity and compassion, emphasizing that the Authority remains a vital institution whose services directly impact the lives of Ghanaians.

The chief further advised the Authority to remain nonpartisan, stressing that political interference should not affect the operations of the NHIA. He encouraged management and staff to continue working diligently towards the growth and success of the institution.

Staff welfare

Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II also urged the Regional Manager to prioritise the welfare and working conditions of staff at the district level to boost morale and productivity.

He assured the delegation of his full support for the establishment of a CPA Regional Office in the Bono Region and indicated his readiness to provide land for the project if necessary.

The Sunyanimanhene further encouraged the Regional Manager to involve top management members in decision-making processes, noting that their experience and expertise would greatly benefit the Authority.
