The Bono Regional Police Command has congratulated the Paramount Chief of the Sunyani Traditional Area and President of the Sunyani Traditional Council, Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen KorKor II, on his recent gazettement by the National House of Chiefs.
The Command paid a courtesy visit to the Sunyanimanhene at his palace on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, to formally extend its congratulations and best wishes to him on his recognition as the duly gazetted Paramount Chief of the Sunyani Traditional Area.
The delegation was led by the Bono Regional Police Commander, DCOP Joshua Coppson, and included the Deputy Regional Commander, DCOP George Andrews Kumah-Deputy; the Regional Crime Officer, J. J. Boye Esq.; Staff Officer, ASP George O. Boadu; and Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah.
The visit underscored the Police Service’s recognition of the importance of the gazettement and its commitment to strengthening its longstanding partnership with the Sunyani Traditional Council.
It also provided an opportunity for the Police Command and the Traditional Council to reaffirm their commitment to working together to promote peace, security, law and order, as well as the socio-economic development of the Sunyani Traditional Area.
Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen KorKor II expressed appreciation to the Regional Police Command for the gesture and commended the officers for their continued service to the people of the Bono Region.
He stressed the importance of sustained collaboration between traditional authorities and the security services in maintaining peace, stability and development within the traditional area.
DVLA CEO’s visit
In a related development, the Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Mr Julius Neequaye Kotey, has called on the Paramount Chief of the Sunyani Traditional Area and President of the Sunyani Traditional Council, Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, at his palace in Sunyani.
The visit formed part of the DVLA’s stakeholder engagement on the Authority’s planned introduction of new vehicle registration number plates. Mr Kotey also disclosed plans to give the DVLA’s Sunyani Regional Office a facelift to improve service delivery.
He said the courtesy call was necessary because the Authority’s operations in Sunyani are located on traditional land, adding that management sought the Paramount Chief’s permission, guidance and counsel.
Mr Kotey, who was accompanied by Deputy CEO in charge of Services and Administration, Lawyer Foster Akwasi Asante, the Deputy CEO in charge of Operations, Mr Iddisah Yeboah Seidu, and other senior officials, also thanked the Sunyanimanhene for his contribution to the appointment of Lawyer Asante as Deputy CEO.
Commendation
Responding, Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II commended the DVLA management for its efforts to transform and improve the Authority.
He urged management to prioritise staff welfare, stressing that motivated employees were essential to effective public service delivery. He also encouraged DVLA staff to support management’s transformation agenda.
The Paramount Chief further proposed periodic renewal of vehicle number plates, saying the initiative could generate additional revenue while strengthening vehicle identification and assisting law enforcement agencies in tracing vehicles linked to criminal activities.
He also called on the DVLA to establish an emission testing centre in Sunyani to enhance vehicle safety, environmental compliance and efforts to reduce pollution from poorly maintained vehicles.
