Women urged to build self-confidence for leadership, decision-making roles

Renowned human rights activist and development advocate, Raphael Godlove Ahenu, is calling on Ghanaian women to build their self-confidence to take up leadership roles and actively participate in the decision-making processes of their communities and the nation at large.

Mr. Ahenu made the call during an engagement meeting with members of the Women’s Ministry of the Kings Assembly of the Church of Pentecost in the Sunyani East Industrial District.

The engagement formed part of Mr. Ahenu’s ongoing advocacy to promote gender equality and strengthen women’s roles in leadership across Ghana.

Speaking on the theme: “Building personal confidence as a 21st century woman”, he emphasized that low self-confidence continues to be a major barrier preventing many women from stepping into leadership positions, both in the church and in society.

Leadership qualities

He noted that although women possess enormous potential and leadership qualities, many are held back by self-doubt and societal stereotypes.

“Women must begin to believe in themselves and recognize that they are capable of leading and making critical decisions that shape the future,” Mr. Ahenu stated.

He encouraged the women to pursue education, mentorship, and personal development opportunities to boost their confidence and competence and further urged religious institutions, families, and society to support and create an enabling environment for women to thrive in leadership.

Mr. Ahenu praised the Church of Pentecost for empowering its women through ministries and called on other churches and organizations to emulate such efforts to promote gender inclusion and equal participation in governance and community development.

Women’s Ministry

The Women’s Ministry of the Church of Pentecost, like other Women’s Ministry focuses on empowering and nurturing women within the faith, fostering spiritual growth, and encouraging their active participation in the church.

It encourages women to deepen their relationship with God through Bible studies, prayer, and fellowship, provides a space for women to connect, share their experiences, and build relationships within the church community.

The ministry further aims to equip women with the skills and knowledge necessary to lead and serve effectively in the church and wider community.

The Women’s Ministry actively participates in church activities, outreach programs, and missions to serve others and spread the Gospel.
