CEO calls for radical approach to effectively reset Ghana

Mr. Raphael Godlove Ahenu, the Chief Executive Officer of the Global Media Foundation (GLOMEF), says Ghana can only reset and be on the path of sustainable growth and accountability through radical leadership.

“Ghana is at crossroads and if we want to reset the nation and put it back on a path of sustainable growth and accountability then we need radical leadership – leadership that is not afraid to deal ruthlessly with citizens who misbehave and flout the laws has called on the Government of Ghana to deal decisively and unapologetically with individuals who engage in misconduct and undermine the nation’s progress”, he said during a media interaction in Sunyani.

He further said radical transformation demands radical actions and that the government must send a strong signal that Ghana is not a lawless state, adding that “we need a bold shift from rhetoric to firm enforcement.”

Law enforcing

Mr. Ahenu emphasised the need for the government to show leadership in enforcing law and order across all levels of society, saying: “we are witnessing a breakdown in discipline, both at the grassroots and in high offices. If the government is serious about its ‘Reset Ghana Agenda’, it must crack the whip, regardless of the social status of the offenders.

Mr. Ahenu said the culture of impunity, especially among influential figures, has emboldened others to follow suit, leading to rising crime rates, environmental degradation, corruption, and disregard for public institutions.

According to him, the country cannot afford to be lenient with people who seek to derail national development through lawlessness, corruption, and indiscipline and that the time for half-measures and political niceties is over.

Decisive leadership

He also called on civil society, religious institutions, and the media to support this call for decisive leadership, stating that national development will remain a dream if citizens are allowed to act with impunity.

Touching on the recent allegations by Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, MP for Assin South and Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, urged the government to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into these serious allegations.

He said anyone found culpable must be dealt with after the investigations.

The Global Media Foundation, known for its advocacy in good governance, human rights, and sustainable development, reiterated its commitment to holding duty-bearers accountable and championing the cause for a better Ghana.
