Sunyanihene attends Bono Ahafo Presbytery’s Nananom Fellowship inauguration

The Paramount Chief of the Sunyani Traditional Area, Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, last Friday attended the inauguration ceremony of the Bono Ahafo Presbytery Nananom Fellowship at the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Sunyani.

The event was officially inaugurated by the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye.

Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, who chaired the ceremony, was accompanied by a delegation comprising divisional and sub-chiefs, Queen Mothers, and other distinguished members of the Sunyani Traditional Council.

In his address, Rt. Rev. Dr. Opare Kwakye commended the Sunyanimanhene for his exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to the progress and development of the Sunyani Traditional Area since his enstoolment.

He also invited Odeefour to consider the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church as his “mother church” and to join the congregation in worship whenever he is in Sunyani.

The Moderator further appealed to the traditional ruler to use his influence to support the national fight against illegal mining (galamsey), stressing that the Chief’s voice carries immense authority and could inspire collective action to address the menace.

In response, Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II expressed his gratitude to Rt. Rev. Dr. Opare Kwakye and his entourage for their visit, assuring them of a warm and memorable stay in Sunyani.

He pledged to worship at the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church whenever he is in town, noting that his predecessor was a devoted Presbyterian.

The Sunyanimanhene also reaffirmed his commitment to the campaign against galamsey, describing the activity as a destructive practice that endangers the nation’s environment and future.

He issued a stern warning to traditional authorities within the Sunyani Traditional Area to desist from participating in or endorsing illegal mining, cautioning that any chief found culpable would face strict sanctions.
