Mr. Paul Effah, the immediate-past President of Radford University College, has charged the reconstituted Governing Council of Sunyani Technical University (STU) to work in harmony towards the overall development and growth of the university.
He said even though members of the council are representatives of various constituent bodies, they are expected to prioritize the interests of the university over any other considerations.


Mr. Effah, who is also a former Executive Secretary of the National Council for Tertiary Education, stated these during a day’s orientation session for members of the STU Governing Council in Sunyani.
The session aimed to familiarize them with their core responsibilities and strengthen their capacity to effectively contribute to the university’s governance. highlighted the importance of harnessing the diverse expertise of Council members to transform individuals into valuable human resources.
He advocated for the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to streamline operations within the university and stressed the need for unity and collaboration among Council members to support institutional growth.

Mr. Effah also reminded the members that their words and actions should reflect a deep commitment to the university’s development, emphasizing the importance of integrity, accountability, and shared vision in their roles.
Welcoming the participants earlier, the Chairman of the Council, Prof. Samuel Awuah-Nyamekye, alongside the Vice-Chancellor, Ing. Prof. Kwadwo Adinkrah-Appiah urged members to engage fully with the training and apply the insights gained to enhance their work.
The 19-member Governing Council is chaired by Professor Samuel Awuah-Nyamekye, a Professor of Religion and Environment at the Department of Religion and Human Values in the University of Cape Coast.

Other members include the Vice-Chancellor, Ing. Professor Kwadwo Adinkra-Appiah; John Owusu Agyeman, Eunice Obrihe Anner Appiah Larbi and Ing. Dr. Gilbert Ayine Akolgo, who are the President’s nominees on the Council; Dr. (Mrs.) Rebecca Arthur, the representative of the National Council for Tertiary Education; Engineer Rev. Ebenezer Kofi Gyekye-Obuobi, the representative of the Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training; Mr. Samuel Ntim Adu, who is representing the Association of Ghana Industries and Mr. Gordon Osei Marfo, who is the serving on the ticket of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Senior High Schools.



Mr. George Agyenim Boateng and Gideon Hackman are standing in for STU’s Convocation with Dr. Kwadwo Boateng Prempeh representing the teaching staff. Mr. Rockson Addae is the representative of the Senior Staff Association while Mr. Sule Iddrisu is representing the Junior Staff Association. Ms. Lawrencia Serwaa Akoto is representing undergraduate students while Mr. Abban Kofi Justice is representing the graduate students.
In attendance at the meeting were the Pro-Vice Chancellor of STU, Prof. Justice Solomon Korantwi-Barimah (Ghana’s Ambassodor-designate to Egypt); the Registrar, Mr. Samuel A. Obour; the Director of Finance, Mr. Thomas Kwarfo and Mr. Job K. Manu, the Director of Academic Affairs.
