As Christians mark the crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the leader of The Twelve Stones International, Theologian Raphael Godlove Ahenu, is urging Christians not to commercialize the occasion.
Rather, Christians should use the period for “spiritual reflection and reconciliation”
“Easter is not just another holiday; it is the cornerstone of our faith, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the hope of eternal life, we must not allow its true meaning to be diluted by commercial interests,” the Sunyani-based theologian added.
He believes that as the nation embarks on a path of renewal and transformation, there is the urgent need for Christians to align their personal and communal values with the foundational principles of the Christian faith.
Speaking at a gathering in Sunyani, Theologian Ahenu highlighted the growing trend of Easter being overshadowed by consumerism, with the holiday increasingly becoming associated with shopping sprees, lavish meals, and entertainment rather than its profound spiritual significance.
Unique opportunity
Theologian Ahenu’s message comes on the heels of the government’s pledge to reset the nation’s socio-economic landscape to address systemic challenges, promote sustainable development, and foster unity among Ghanaians.
In this context, the theologian believes that Easter presents a unique opportunity for Christians to lead by example, demonstrating the power of reconciliation and renewal.
“Easter is a time for healing and forgiveness. As our government works towards resetting Ghana, let us also reset our hearts and minds. Let us seek reconciliation with one another, mend broken relationships, and build bridges of understanding and compassion.”
Ahenu’s call to action has resonated with many Christian leaders and congregations across the country, who are now organizing events and initiatives focused on spiritual renewal and community engagement.
These efforts aim to inspire individuals to live out their faith in meaningful ways, contributing to the broader vision of a transformed and united Ghana.
The Twelve Stones International, under Ahenu’s leadership, has been actively involved in community outreach programs that emphasize the importance of spiritual growth and social responsibility.
The group encourages Christians to engage in acts of kindness, volunteerism, and community service during the Easter season, reflecting the love and sacrifice of Christ.
