MTN Ghana Foundation Opens Applications for 2026/2027 Bright Scholarship

The MTN Ghana Foundation has officially opened applications for its Bright Scholarship for the 2026/2027 academic year, offering financial support to hundreds of students across the country.

The scholarship programme is designed to ease the financial burden on beneficiaries by covering tuition, accommodation, and essential learning resources. According to the Foundation, the initiative seeks to remove barriers to academic success while nurturing the next generation of leaders and innovators in Ghana.

Applications are open to Ghanaian continuing students pursuing undergraduate degrees, as well as those enrolled in vocational and technical training at public tertiary institutions nationwide. Interested applicants must submit their forms online via the official scholarship portal by May 31, 2026. The Foundation emphasized that the process is entirely free, conducted exclusively online, and does not accept hardcopy submissions.

To qualify, applicants must demonstrate strong academic performance, exhibit good conduct, and must not be undergoing any disciplinary action.

Speaking on the initiative, Adwoa Wiafe, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer at MTN Ghana, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to advancing education and empowering young people. She noted that the Bright Scholarship specifically targets talented students facing financial challenges, highlighting the importance of investing in youth for national development.

She encouraged eligible students to apply, announcing that 500 scholarships will be awarded in 2026. Out of this number, 300 will go to students pursuing STEM, vocational, and technical programmes, while the remaining 200 will support teachers furthering their education at public universities.

The Bright Scholarship Programme was first launched in 2018 as part of MTN’s broader commitment made during its 20th anniversary celebrations in 2016. Initially, the company pledged to award 300 scholarships over three years. Following its success, the programme was expanded in 2021 during MTN’s 25th anniversary to reach more beneficiaries.

Since its inception, the MTN Ghana Foundation has awarded over 2,000 scholarships to students at various levels of education, from basic school through to tertiary institutions.
