Story by Richard Kofi Boahen, Sunyani
The Omanhene of Sunyani, Ɔdɛɛfoɔ Ɔgyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, is leaving no stone unturned since his enstoolment ten months ago to see to the holistic development of Sunyani and its environs.
In one of his deliberate attempts to bring everyone on board to push the development of Sunyani forward, the Omanhene has met with entrepreneurs and heads of institutions at a Breakfast Meeting to share his vision for the traditional area and carry them along in realizing his long-term goals.
At the plush Eusbett Hotel in Sunyani where the Breakfast Meeting took place, several business owners and heads of public institutions graced the occasion in their numbers to lend their support to the realization of the Omanhene’s dreams.
The occasion, which was on the theme: “Driving Heritage Towards Economic Development, Our Shared Responsibility”, offered an excellent platform for the traditional council and the participants to interact among themselves and create synergy amongst the business community and institutional heads of the Bono Regional capital, among others.

Vision
Sharing his vision at the event, Ɔdɛɛfoɔ Ɔgyeamansan Boahen Korkor II stated that he intends to lead a united and dynamic community where tradition inspires progress, youth and women thrive while ensuring that inclusive partnerships drive sustainable development and economic prosperity—anchored in fairness, integrity, and mutual respect.
He called for the support of all stakeholders to ensure meaningful progress in the various objectives he has set out to pursue.

“Isolating our efforts as stakeholders stifle our progress. Let us therefore break barriers and come together with a shared vision to work towards the advancement of Sunyani. Duplication depletes our already scarce resources. Operating through synergy has the potential to safeguard our purse to enhance efficiency. Unfortunately, duplication is unavoidable if we decide to work in silos. Coming together is therefore a necessity”, he further said.
Ongoing projects
According to the Omanhene, the Sunyani Traditional Council is collaborating with some partners to complete construction works on a Cancer Prevention Centre in Sunyani next year.
In addition, the Council would in December launch an Educational Endowment Fund for the people of Sunyani and organize Special Awards to appreciate distinguished organizations and personalities who have contributed towards the development of Sunyani.
