Ahantaman Girls place 2nd in national SHTS basketball championship

Ahantaman Girls’ SHS were the silver medalists at the just ended national 2025 Basketball Senior High/ Technical Championship at Bukom Boxing Arena, Accra.

The Ghana Basketball Federation (GBF) competition brought together top basketball stakeholders, school representatives and the sporting community to the country’s biggest high school 3/3 basketball and entertainment festival from 10th to 12th April 2025.

Ahantaman Girl’s SHS (AHGISS) defeated Wesley Girls’ SHS, Cape Coast by 11-0 and St. John Grammar by 7-5 to qualify for the quarter final stage (1/8).

AHGISS defeated St. Louis SHS, Kumasi. to reach the semi-final stage of the highly competitive national competition by 7-5.

The young ladies fought very hard to secure qualification to the finals by emphatically winning against Holy Child School, Cape Coast, by 7-4.

The Team secured a respectable second national position when it narrowly lost by 4-7 to St. John Grammar at the finals.

3 out of 4 girls from AHGISS were selected to be part of the national team. This is a great source of motivation for the Ahantaman Girls SHS community home and abroad.

Congratulations to the Team and we must continue our deliberate investment in sport infrastructure to unearth national sports women for Ghana GH and Africa.

About AHGISS

Ahantaman Girls’ Senior High School, previously known as Ahantaman Senior High School and Ahantaman Secondary School, was established in 1948 as Takoradi Commercial Academy near Sekondi by Mr. Emmanuel Kwasi Idun.

It later became known as Royal Commercial College (ROCCO), then Ahantaman Secondary School, and finally Ahantaman Senior High School.

The school transitioned to a single-sex girls’ school on November 17, 2010, becoming Ahantaman Girls’ Senior High School.
