The Global Media Foundation (GLOMEF) on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, organised a youth engagement forum at Sunyani Technical University in the Bono Region to, among other things, collate inputs into the proposed youth manifesto which will later be shared with policy-makers and opinion leaders for consideration.
The manifesto, which is still being drafted, is expected to mirror the expectations of adolescents and the youth in general in the formulation of policies by both the government and the local assemblies.
The event brought together members of the Youth Parliament in Sunyani, civil society, citizen journalists and several distinguished guests and stakeholders.
In his address, the Chief Executive of Global Media Foundation, Mr. Raphael Godlove Ahenu, explained that GLOMEF’s mission is to empower adolescents and young people to develop confidence, speak up on issues that affect them, and contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s development.
He stressed that every young person’s voice matters and should be heard in national development.
Group work
Participants later broke into groups representing different constituencies to discuss challenges facing their communities and propose practical solutions to improve the lives of residents.
During the interactive session, several adolescents shared their views on how problems in their communities could be addressed. They also spoke about how GLOMEF’s programmes had inspired them to realise that their opinions are important and that they have a role to play in building a better Ghana.
The programme ended with a renewed commitment by participants to continue engaging in community discussions and contribute positively to the development of their communities.
