Miss Sankofa set to empower more women, promote cultural heritage

After a dazzling decade of glitz, growth, and girl power, the iconic Miss Nkwanta Beauty Pageant is turning the page—with flair! We’re thrilled to unveil our bold new identity: Miss Sankofa.

This exciting rebrand isn’t just a name change, it’s a powerful step forward rooted in tradition. Inspired by the timeless wisdom of “Sankɔfa”, which reminds us to go back and fetch what is valuable from the past—we’re doubling down on our mission to celebrate Ghanaian culture, uplift women, and spark a future shaped by pride, purpose, and possibility.

The name ‘Sankɔfa’- derived from the Akan proverb ‘Sɛ wo werɛ firi na wo san kɔfa a yɛnkyiri’ (‘It is not wrong to go back for that which you have forgotten’)- embodies the values of cultural reclamation, pride, and progress.

In a statement, DNK Events Ghana, the organizers of the pageant explained that: “Changing our name to Miss Sankofa allows us to align our identity with our mission: to blend tradition and innovation, inspiring contestants and audiences alike to embrace their roots while driving positive change. The decision to rebrand as Miss Sankofa also opens the door for young women across the Bono Regions and Ghana to compete, while helping to promote the beauty of Ghana’s rich culture.

The rebrand also introduces a fresh visual identity featuring the Miss Sankofa logo, symbolizing grace, wisdom, and the cyclical journey of learning from history. The pageant will continue to showcase cultural performances, community service projects, and leadership development programs, with the same dedication to excellence that has defined its legacy.

The next edition of Miss Sankofa 2026 will debut under the new brand identity, bringing together contestants from across Ghana to celebrate beauty, talent, and purpose. Everything that formally identifies with the previous name is now fully owned by MISS SANKOFA.
