Protect your lands against encroachments – Sunyanihene to Methodist Church

The Omanhene of Sunyani, Ɔdɛɛfoɔ Ɔgyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, has advised the Methodist Church Ghana to take proactive steps to secure and protect its lands from encroachment by private developers.

He said the Sunyani Traditional Council is always ready to support the church to protect its lands within the traditional area.

The Omanhene made these remarks when the Methodist Bishop of Sunyani, the Rt. Rev Kwaku Effah called on him at his Palace in Sunyani yesterday.

Ɔdɛɛfoɔ Ɔgyeamansan Boahen Korkor II paid glowing tribute to the Methodist Church Ghana for its unwavering commitment in the holistic development mankind, especially in areas such as education, health and youth empowerment, among several others.

He urged the church keep investing in the provision of good quality education to ensure a holistic manpower development.

Indicating his personal association with the Methodist Church, having begun his basic education at a Methodist Primary School, the Sunyanimanhene shared fond memories of his time there, including a humorous yet disciplinary encounter with a Pastor that significantly shaped his upbringing. 

Ɔdɛɛfoɔ Ɔgyeamansan Boahen Korkor expressed profound gratitude to the Most Rev. Prof. J. Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu for his recent pastoral visit to the Sunyani Diocese and extended his regards to him.

The Methodist Bishop of Sunyani, the Rt. Rev. Kwaku Effah was accompanied by the Diocesan Lay Chairman, Nicholas Lenin Anane-Agyei; the Synod Secretary, the Very Rev Dr. Solomon Bruce and Rev. Frank Adarkwa of the Wesley Methodist Cathedral in Sunyani.

Regional Chief Imam’s visit

In a related development, the Bono Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Alhaji Baba Saeed Mahamud, in the company of him were his deputy, Sheikh Abdul Mumin Swallah, along with esteemed members of the Bono Regional Chief Imam’s Council and the Council of Imams and Ulamau, has met with Ɔdɛɛfoɔ Ɔgyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, the Paramount Chief of Sunyani.

Sheikh Mahamud expressed his profound gratitude for the opportunity to engage with the Paramount Chief and emphasized the enduring commitment of the Muslim community to support the development of Sunyani, particularly during the sacred Muslim prayer season, where he earnestly sought Odeefour’s collaboration in mobilizing prayers for the city.

His assurance of readiness to respond to any call from the Chief underscored a spirit of unity and mutual respect.
