The Local Government Service Association of Physical Planners (LOGSAPP) has congratulated Professor Lord Mensah on his appointment as the Head of the Local Government Services.
The Association said Prof. Mensah’s long-standing commitment to academia and exemplary leadership in public finance is worth commending.

In an interview with the media on Wednesday, Planner Gifty Nyarko, the Interim National President of the Association, was confident that the extensive experience and forward-thinking vision of Prof. Mensah would bring strategic direction to the Service, enhancing its capacity to meet the evolving demands of local governance.
Fiscal decentralization
Highlighting the distinguished background of the financial economist, Planner Nyarko noted that Prof. Mensah is well-positioned to strengthen fiscal decentralization and development financing across the country.
“His expertise in economic planning, fiscal and decentralization policy would bolster public financial management to ensure more efficient resource allocation to local government structures, particularly in spatial plan preparations where many Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) have shown limited commitment”, she said.
Planner Nyarko stated that Prof. Mensah is well vested with the requisite knowledge in economic and fiscal policies for physical planning towards an enhanced robust system
She was optimistic Prof. Mensah’s understanding of financial systems would further support local governments in securing funding and implementation of effective spatial and urban planning initiatives.
Coordination
His leadership would also improve coordination between financial management and physical planning for sustainable and viable development projects in both urban and rural areas, she said.
Planner Nyarko assured the Association’s full support for Prof. Mensah’s leadership and affirmed commitment to partner with his Office for holistic and sustainable Nation building.
“We hope that under his guidance, the Local Government Service will achieve new milestones in promoting growth, innovation and excellence in local governance and spatial planning”, Planner Nyarko said.
