Western Region NDC members accuse party of selling MMDCE slots

Some members of the ruling National Democratic Congress in the Western Region are very angry with leadership of their party for deliberately refusing to nominate hardworking and loyal candidates as Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives and have consequently threatened to defect to the NPP.

The angry party members alleged that the MMDCE positions, as announced recently, were bought and that the hardworking candidates were dropped because of their inability to pay.

According to them, they had prior information about the party’s decision to drop hardworking candidates who fail to pay for the MMDCE positions and vehemently protested it through series of demonstrations and press conferences.

In their opinion, this clearly shows that the NDC is not a political party worth dying for because its leadership has short memories.

“NDC is a monkey dey work, baboon dey chop party because we did not see any meaningful contribution by some of the people who have been nominated as MMDCEs, they only paid for the position. We can’t remain at such a party”, they stressed.

They wondered why the party’s leadership would deny hardworking candidates like Mr. Ebenezer Essein, the deputy regional communication officer and Daniel Mawuli Kwofie Agbesi, a member of the regional communication team, the opportunity to serve as District Chief Executives for Ahanta West and Mpohor- Fiase respectively.

“We are extremely shocked that such hardworking, dedicated and loyal candidates who sacrificed their lives for NDC during its opposition days, could be treated this way and have accordingly advised ourselves”, they said.

Sabotage

They also cited sabotage by some incumbent MPs who suspect that these hardworking candidates have parliamentary ambitions and may easily unseat them when offered MMDCE positions.

In an interview with rbnewshub.com soon after the release of second batch of MMDCE nominees by the Local Government Ministry, the angry NDC members wondered if they were in a wrong party, adding that despite the vigorous propaganda against former President Akuffo-Addo’s government by these hardworking candidates, the party saw no need rewarding them.

They admitted that it was through lies and propaganda by the hardworking candidates that NDC for the first time in history snatched fifteen out of the seventeen parliamentary seats in the Western Region, adding that these candidates often used their own monies and resources to execute their propaganda agenda only to be denied MMDCE appointments.

Meanwhile, the opposition NPP says politics is all about numbers and has expressed its readiness to welcome any aggrieved NDC member into its fold anytime and any day.

A member of the party’s regional communication team, Dr. Frederick Boahen has described this development within the Western Region NDC as just the beginning of pain, frustrations and sorrows that are bound to happen and urged members and supporters of the Umbrella Group to expect more disappointments from their leaders after lying against NPP to win power.
