39 prospective MDCEs shortlisted in Bono Region go for final vetting

Thirty-nine prospective Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the Bono Region have been shortlisted for their final vetting this Tuesday and Wednesday at the Institute of Local Government Studies in Accra.

Gifty Dede Bossman of Sunyani Metro, Mavis Adjei-Kwaa of Jaman North, Hajia Fatimatu Abubakar of Berekum Municipal and Gloria Opoku Gyamfi of Wenchi Municipal are the only females among the 39 prospective MMDCEs.

The two-day vetting will cover Berekum West, Berekum Municipal, Banda District, Dormaa West, Dormaa East, Dormaa Municipal, Wenchi Municipal, Tain District and Sunyani West Municipal on the first day while Jaman South Municipal, Jaman North District and Sunyani Metropolitan Assembly will take their turn on the second day.

Those shortlisted are Hajia Fatimatu Abubakar, Kingsford Atta-Owusu and Amo Appau Wonder for Berekum Municipal; Collins Asoma, Prince Kusi and Emmanuel Amankona for Berekum West District; Peter Dongi, Jacob Boateng and Emmanuel Donkor for Banda District while Gloria Opoku Gyamfi, Kwabena Addo and Sulemana Al-hassan are vying for the Wenchi slot.

Others are Stephen Azorba Awuni, Kofi Yeboah Dorkiltey and Adamu Asuman for Dormaa West District; Zakari Mohammed, Enock Tweneboah and Osei Owusu King for Dormaa East District; Dominic Adomah Ameyaw, Kumi Asare, David Attah Twum and Eric Yeboah Kyeremeh for Dormaa Municipal; Salia Iddisah, John Kwame Duku and James Amoako-Atta for Tain District as well as Kofi Manu, Dognekor Attah Kwasi Snr and Dr. Ishaque Twumasi Ankrah for Sunyani West Municipal.

The rest include Siata Watara, George Abisa Blankson, Obiri Korang Ambrose and Alfred Amponsah for Jaman South Municipal; Sah Abraham Kwasi, Adane George and Mavis Adjei-Kwaa for Jaman North District and Collins Mahama, Vincent Antwi Agyei, Samuel Frimpong and Gifty Bossman for the Sunyani Metropolitan Assembly.

Meanwhile, Madam Gifty Dede Bossman, one of the four women in the final list, has expressed her optimism in becoming the next Mayor of Sunyani, the Bono Regional capital.

The 46-year-old staff of the Catholic University of Ghana (CUG) at Fiapre near Sunyani believes that she has what it takes to turn the fortunes of the city around when given the opportunity to steer the affairs of the Sunyani Metropolitan Assembly.

With vast experience over the years, Madam Dede Bossman hopes to focus a lot of attention on the need to improve sanitation in the Sunyani Municipality, especially within the main market centres.

“My vision for Sunyani is that I will try my best to foster unity among all residents of the area so that together, we all push the development of Sunyani forward. I’ll further place a high premium on the interest of the youth, market women and children,” she told rbnewshub.com in an exclusive interview in Sunyani.

She says she would run an open-door policy and welcome all opinions in relation to pushing the development of Sunyani forward and schedule meetings with various communities and stakeholder groups from time to time to share relevant information from the central government, and the Sunyani Municipal Assembly.

This interactive session, according to her, will also be used to take feedback from the people and address some of the issues that would come up in the process.

Madam Dede Bossman told the media in Sunyani that, when given the nod as the Sunyani Metropolitan Chief Executive, she will prioritize the taring of access roads and other key roads in the area while championing the interest of the youth and the vulnerable.

Madam Dede Bossman, who has strong analytical and problem-solving ability, holds a Master of Science degree in Organisational Development and Practice from the University of Development Studies and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Organisational Development from the same university.

The hardworking and results-oriented lady also holds Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Business Administration (Management option) from the Catholic University of Ghana at Fiapre near Sunyani and a certificate in Organisational Development and Resource Mobilization from the College of Community Development, also in Sunyani.
