Samuel Osei Sarkodie, the New Juaben North Constituency Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), hosted 65 female constituency executives to a special Mother’s Day feast in Koforidua during the weekend.
The gathering brought together Women Organisers, deputy Women Organisers, and other female executives from across the region.
Women perseverance
For many of the women present, the day transcended politics. It stood as a timely and rare public acknowledgement of the often-underappreciated role they play in holding the party’s structure together at the grassroots level.
Addressing the attendees, Mr. Sarkodie described the event as a deliberate recognition of women’s historic role in sustaining the NPP.
“Our party’s history reveals that its greatest endurance has often rested on the sacrifices of women. In moments when the tradition was tested, women preserved the spirit of the party at the grassroots. If the NPP shall rise again to greater strength and reclaim political power, it will be because women once again chose to carry the burden of hope upon their shoulders,” he said.
Each participant received a gift, a gesture attendee described as thoughtful and deeply appreciated. Mr. Sarkodie assured the women that the feast would become an annual tradition, stating, “this will neither be the first nor the last.”
Declaration
The occasion also served as a platform for Mr. Sarkodie, who is popularly known as SOS, to formally announce his intention to contest for Eastern Regional Youth Organiser of the NPP. He appealed to executives and grassroots members for their support, prayers, and cooperation.
The event drew senior party figures, including current Eastern Regional Youth Organiser Alhaji Adamu Raha, who attended in solidarity, and Eastern Regional Women’s Organiser Madam Mercy Amoh Darkoah, popularly known as Obour.
Fifteen Constituency Youth Organisers and their deputies were also present, signaling growing grassroots backing.
Prophet Emmanuel Worlasi led the spiritual session, offering prayers for unity, wisdom, divine favour, and direction for both the party and Mr. Sarkodie’s aspirations.
