The Jesus Salvation Pentecostal Church has held its monthly four-day fasting, prayer and breaking service, bringing together members from its three branches at the church’s headquarters at Odumase near Sunyani.
The programme, which runs from Thursday to Sunday at the end of every month, features fasting, worship, preaching, teaching and intercessory prayers for families, marriages, businesses, the youth, communities and the nation.
The final day, Sunday, is observed as a joint breaking service, with members from the Sunyani, Dumasua and Odumase branches converging at the Odumase headquarters for a service similar to the church’s regular Sunday worship.
The programme was led by the Head Pastor, Pastor Williams Ofosu Taku, with support from Elder Augustine Akonta Kofi, Elder Emmanuel, Elder Atta, Pastor Sakyi, Pastor Theophilus and other church leaders.
Speaking after the service, Pastor Taku described the month-end fasting and prayer programme as a pillar of the church’s spiritual life.
“At Jesus Salvation Pentecostal Church, we wait on the Lord at the end of every month. From Thursday to Sunday, we come together at Odumase to pray, worship and seek God’s intervention for our members, communities and Ghana,” he said.
Love and unity
He said the sharing of koko and bread after the final service symbolised love, unity and the church’s commitment to living as one family.
Pastor Theophilus of the Sunyani branch said the programme had contributed to the growth and unity of the church.
He expressed gratitude to Pastor Taku for initiating the programme, noting that the church had grown from a small group to three branches that regularly converged at Odumase for the month-end service.
Elder Akonta Kofi Augustine, of the Odumase branch, also praised the growing participation, saying the joint fasting and prayer had strengthened fellowship among members of the three branches.
Monthly gathering
Pastor Sakyi of the Dumasua branch said members looked forward to the monthly gathering, describing the post-service sharing of koko and bread as a symbol of unity among children, youth and adults.
Some members also shared their enthusiasm about the programme. Sister Adwoa from Dumasua said the service had strengthened her faith, while Brother Kwame from Sunyani said the four-day programme had helped him deepen his prayer life and dependence on God.
The church has announced that its next month-end fasting and prayer programme will again run from Thursday to Sunday, culminating in a joint breaking service and sharing of koko and bread at the Odumase headquarters.
The latest service ended with prayers for the three communities, schools, market women and peace in Ghana.
