The Member of Parliament for Nkoranza North, Joseph Kwasi Mensah, together with the Bono East Regional Minister, Francis Owusu Antwi, has officially launched the construction of a 70-kilometer road network in the Nkoranza North District. The sod-cutting ceremony took place on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Bodom.

The project, aimed at rehabilitating severely deteriorated roads within the district, will connect over 21 communities, including Bodom, Konkrompe, Senya, Bonte, Bomini, Busunya, Tankor, Fiema, Boabeng, Akrudwa No. 1 and 2, Tanoboase, Baafi, Kranka, Boana, Yefri, Manso, Sikaa, and Pinihin. The road network also serves as a key alternative route linking Nkoranza to Techiman, Kintampo, and Atebubu.

Construction has been awarded to Nag Fair Mount Construction Engineering Limited, a company recognized for its quality in road infrastructure development. The project is scheduled for completion within 18 months.

The event drew a large gathering, including traditional leaders from Bodom and surrounding communities, the Bono East Regional Minister, the District Chief Executive Effah Patrick, representatives from the Department of Roads, the contractor, constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), party supporters, and residents.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Joseph Kwasi Mensah reiterated his dedication to the development of the constituency. He expressed gratitude to former President John Dramani Mahama for his continuous support and acknowledged the government’s commitment to infrastructure under the Big Push initiative.

Long-standing concern

“These roads have been a long-standing concern for my constituents and myself. I am glad that we are finally taking a significant step toward addressing the issue. Once completed, these roads will enhance transportation, allowing farmers and traders to move goods and farm inputs more efficiently,” the MP stated.

Regional Minister Francis Owusu Antwi commended the initiative and urged the contractors to deliver high-quality work. He emphasized that the government is investing heavily in infrastructure to improve connectivity and economic opportunities.

“This project is about connecting people, boosting local businesses, and ensuring safe travel. No substandard work will be accepted. We are putting strong supervision and monitoring measures in place to ensure value for money,” the minister said.
