Members of the Berekum West District Assembly in the Bono Region have unanimously confirmed the President’s nominee, Collins Asoma, as their new District Chief Executive with an impressive 100% of the total valid votes cast.
This was at the Assembly’s sitting held at Jinijini, the district capital, last Friday. In attendance were the Bono Regional Minister, Joseph Addae Akwaboa and the Berekum West MP, Dickson Kyere-Duah.
The Regional Minister congratulated Mr. Asoma on this milestone and thanked the Assembly Members for their trust in his leadership, saying: “Your unanimous decision reflects your trust in the leadership ability of the President’s nominee.”
“I’m confident that the Berekum West District will continue to thrive under Honorable Asoma’s leadership, and we must all work together to achieve that”, he added.
The Regional Minister used the occasion to urge perpetrators of illegal mining in the Berekum area, particularly within the Benkasa enclave, to cease their activities or face prosecution.
In his remarks, the newly elected DCE thanked the Assembly members for their overwhelming support and pledged to work with all stakeholders to drive progress in the Berekum West District.
70.45% for New MCE for Dormaa
In a related development, the Dormaa Municipal Assembly, at a special Assembly meeting of last Monday elected Dominic Adomah Ameyaw as the Municipal Chief Executive.
Mr. Ameyaw secured 70.45% votes from the total members present. Prior to the election, the Supervising High Court Judge of Sunyani, Justice Gabriel Mate-Teye, swore-in Yeboah Adama as their new Presiding Member, having been elected by 78.26% of votes of members of the assembly.
Also, 13 government appointees were sworn in at the start of the meeting
The Bono Regional Minister, Joseph Addae Akwaboa, extended his warmest felicitations to both Yeboah Adama and Mr. Ameyaw on their assumption of these pivotal roles and pledged his unwavering commitment to working assiduously with them for the growth, development and prosperity of the Dormaa municipality.
