Story by Mudasiru Abdul Yakeen, Nkawkaw
Fifteen out of the 23 New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament (MPs) in the Eastern Region have declared their support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s candidacy in the upcoming NPP Flagbearership race.
The MPs argue that his policies and leadership style make him the ideal candidate to lead the NPP to victory in the future and have pledged to work tirelessly for Dr. Bawumia’s campaign across the region and encourage all party members to rally behind his candidacy.
Speaking at a press conference in Nkawkaw on Wednesday, Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo, MP for Achiase constituency and spokesperson for the group, emphasized that changing Dr. Bawumia would bring the NPP back 16 years in its quest to recapture power from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Supporting rationale
He stated: โAfter all the propaganda hurled against the NPP in the 2024 elections, it is becoming clear day by day that Bawumia was right in many of the things he proposed. Now is the time that more Ghanaians are warming up to his ideas. Changing him will be setting ourselves back by another 16 years.โ
According to him, having been well marketed and having served as Ghanaโs most impactful vice president he is the best option politically and policy wise to win us the election.
โHe is humble, effective and embracing to all people. We need a leader who unites and not one who divides,โ Mr. Ahenkorah added.
